This and That Embelishments

Some more things I have made for my This and That journal. I used the Pursuit of Happiness and hearts a flutter stamp sets to make some labels and tags:

I also made an envelope using the Epic Day DSP to store them all in:

This and That - post it note key chain

I haven't quite decided what to put in my This and That Journal so have been making things to go with it instead.  I made this little post it note holder on a key chain that attaches to the spine.

They are really easy to make, I had a little post it note block 1 1/2" x 2", this makes three.

  • Take a piece of card 1 1/2" x 5 1/4"
  • Score on long side at 2 1/16",2 3/16", 4 1/4" & 4 3/8"
  • Decorate the front panel 2 1/16" x 1 1/2" DSP
  • Stick the pot it notes in to the holder, (third of the pack)
  • Fold the cover over
  • Punch a hole using largest hole of crop a dile
  • Thread jump ring of key chain through the hole
  • I used a velcro dot as closure
Here it is attached to my journal:

My This and That - Craft Therapy Journal #1

Stampin' Up's This and That journal is absolutely gorgeous! Mine arrived yesterday and after stroking it for a while I decorated the front and back cover. I decided to cover the whole cover in the Epic Day DSP and used the Morning Post Alphabet stamp set. After much deliberation I decided to cover the front and back with transparent adhesive book covering, this is because I know mine would get dirty very quickly as I am a messy crafter. It does give the cover a little shine, (I prefer it matt) but it will keep it clean.

A Close up the Craft Therapy:

The back
Inside front cover, I made a little pocket.

I have lots to say about this and That so watch out for my posts!

This and That is Here!

Sorry, I didn't realise I hadn't told you about Stampin' Up's new This and That Journal Epic Day, how remiss! This will be in the new catalogue that arrives in July but Stampin' Up have made it available for us all (not just demonstrators) to purchase during May. It has chipboard covers with some hexagon embossing on the front, inside are 30 pages with lovely designs on, pages are a bit thicker than the usual DSP. There are pockets on two pages and two envelopes included. I think at £9.95 it is amazing value, what's more during May we can purchase the journal and four coordinating products as a bundle for £29.95, a saving of 15%. Here is the bundle:

Hust contact me now if you would like to purchase it. I will show you mine in my next post.

Crafting Therapy #2

Here is the second page of my layout about Ian:
A close up of the flowers I made from the DSP and yes Dad is the tickle master according to Jess, I think that's the thing she misses about Dad being in hospital, my tickles are just not the same!
 Both pages together:

Crafting Therapy

As some of you may know, my husband Ian hasn't been well lately and is in hospital so it has been a difficult time for us all and I haven't managed to do much crafting.  Over the weekend a made a double page scrapbook layout about Ian and the girls helped me, choosing pictures and doing some journalling. I really enjoyed doing it, some crafting therapy!
I did as part of the May have I got scrap for you challenge over at UK Scrappers.  This is a great challenge/workshop as Nikki does a PDF for guidance.  I combined the double page challenge with limited stash challenge.
In my stash I had two 12 x 12 crumb cake, A4 baja breeze, A4 whisper white and three 12" x 6" of patio party DSP. I used the morning post alphabet stamp set, midnight muse ink pad and marker and some circle punches.
Here is the first page:
To make my supplies go further I cut the card and some paper into strips and stuck them onto the page base, the photo's will hide the gaps. I punched the circle patterns out of the DSP and made some in to flowers, I also copied the doodling pattern on the dsp circles on the card stock.
I will show you page 2 and both pages together tomorrow.

Progressive Scrapbooking #2

This is the second page to match the layout I showed you yesterday so used the same supplies/paper.  Again I started with a 6" x 6" piece, I love this photo of Rebecca and it's nice to see her natural hair colour, its dyed black now!

Using all this paper may seem wasteful but here's a tip, I marked where my photo would go then die cut lots from where it wouldn't show! (this is from the 6" x 6" piece I used in yesterdays layout.
I forgot to take a photo of the A4 piece but here is the finished page:
Both pages together:
I forgot to mention earlier, I used the two tag die to cut two tags which I slid behin the photo's for some secret journalling. You can just see them popping out.

Progressive Scrapbooking

As a card maker a blank 12" x 12" piece of card can be quite daunting when you start scrapbooking so I thought I would try progressive scrapbooking. This is where you build your page up, start with a 6" x 6" piece, layer that onto an A4 piece then put that onto your 12" x 12".
I had some lovely pictures of Rebecca that I wanted to use and this is what I came up with. The papers are from Patio Party DSP pack and the stamp sets are Hearts a Flutter (with matching framelits!) and the Morning Post alphabet
The 6" x 6", all I did was add a strip of scallop edge card as the DSP was very busy:

I layered this onto an A4 piece of midnight muse card:
This was then layered onto a 12 x 12 piece of crumb cake card.
This is a great method for newbie scrapbookers, why not give it a go?  I made a double page layout so I will show you the other page tomorrow.
